Meet Jim Schneider.
He’s just one of the great minds at Thilmany Papers. Jim is the kind of guy every customer wants in their corner. He’s smart. He’s got one heck of a sense of humor. And he’s dedicated.
Jim's Role at Thilmany
Jim is a New Product Development Engineer – a Paper Science Engineer by trade with a Chemistry Minor. (Did we mention he’s smart?) He works with customers to find better ways to do things as well as new ideas to help make customers more successful. Whether doing research, testing in the lab, running trials on machines, or visiting a customer site, Jim is always focused on developing the right customer solution.
But he doesn’t stop at just finding a solution; he goes above and beyond. Like in December of 2009 when Wisconsin was receiving its seventh largest snow fall on record. A blizzard was blowing through leaving over 14 inches of snow on the ground.
On this particular day, most office employees were instructed to stay at home for safety. But, also on this particular day, a customer called. They were in desperate need of trial material.
The Situation
The paper mill called Jim for his expertise, knowing that he could help offer a solution. Sizing up the situation, he knew driving was not an option. The plow had not yet cleared his street and the snow was too deep for his car. His only option? Walking. So he bundled up, said goodbye to the wife and kids, and started walking through the snow.
Why Jim's so Great
Jim walked for an hour and a half to cover the 3 miles from his home to the mill through heavy snow and 25+ mph winds. The sidewalks weren’t plowed. The streets weren’t cleared. But come heck or high water (and even snow), Jim was making it to work!
We love Jim.
And our customers love Jim. He’s the kind of guy that makes Thilmany great. Not only does he deliver innovative solutions, he puts the customer first – unconditionally. It’s that kind of service, from those kind of people, that sets Thilmany apart.
Thanks Jim, for everything you do.
